Lhasa is the capital city of Tibet an autonomous region in China. It is located at 3650 meters (12000 feet) above the sea level on the north bank of the Himalaya Mountains. It covers an area of 30,000 square kilometers.  It has the history of more than 1300 years. Lhasa is also known as “Land of the Gods” and “the city of sunshine” as it has unique culture and spiritual resources, especially its Buddhism culture. The beauty of Lhasa does not only lie in its exotic culture, long history, mystical religion, but also its breathtaking natural scenery and spectacular monuments. Lhasa is located in South Central part of the region on the North bank of Kyichu River.

The best time to visit Lhasa is between March and October. The major attraction of Lhasa is Potala Palace. It is the former residence of the Dalai Lama. It has over 1000 rooms which contain living quarters of the Dalai Lamas while they lived and their sumptuous golden tombs when they died. There are numerous important monasteries, temples and Stupas. Another attraction of Lhasa is Jokhang temple. It is considered as one of the most important temple in Tibet, the king Songsten Gampo built it to welcome his wives. Norbulingka Summer Palace – it contains a small zoo, a mansion and the botanical gardens, Drepung Monastery – the biggest and richest monastery in Tibet where lamas helps to train each new young Dalai Lama, Sera Monastery – famous for its tantric teachings, Tibet Museum – museum with artifacts of the entire history of Tibet. Barkhor Street Market – is the oldest street which is a circular street around Jokhang Temple and is in very traditional style, are other major sites to look for in Lhasa.
