Langtang valley trekking, an exciting trekking area, is also called the valley of glaciers trek. Lantang valley is the nearest Himalayan region from Kathmandu valley. It is the closet place where you could get the massive snowcapped peaks and beautiful glaciers. The people living in the highlands of the Langtang region are obviously Nepalese but being the descendant of the Tibetan origin. It is popular trekking regions for those who wish a short trek from Kathmandu into the Himalayas influenced by Tibetan lifestyle and culture. This valley is located 19 miles north of Kathmandu. The whole valley is dominated by Mt. Langtang Lirung  of 7246m and offers pine forest, varieties of rhododendron, bamboo forests, majestic waterfalls rugged rock, snow-capped peaks and many more.

 

It takes around 8 hours’ drive from Kathmandu to reach the starting point of trekking i.e. Syabru Bensi through Dhunche. We head upward to Lama Hotel and Langtang village until we arrive at the next famous Kanyanjing Gompa (3740 M). During the part of the trek you will be walking through Langtang National Park where you can see varieties of flora and fauna, among them the monkeys, musk deer, Pika and the national bird of Nepal called Danphe are commonly seen.  After overnight stay in Gompa, we will visit the Yala yak cheese factory and have a glorious view of the glaciers, which is also known as the gateway to Tibet. There are some huts in Langsisa which can be reached within one day's walk from Kyangjin Gompa. If you are not interested, you move your route back down the valley to Syabru Besi and then drive back to Kathmandu Valley.

 

The best seasons for the Langtang Valley Trek are Autumn (mid Sept to mid Dec) and Spring (March to May). The weather is sunny and warm, with outstanding views at day but the nights are little colder.
